The Coats Singers Acappella Gospel group originated in San Francisco, California under the auspices of Curtis Coats, Sr.
The Coats Singers initially began singing in the backyard of their home in the summer of 1967, and performing for local churches in the San Francisco bay area shortly thereafter. There are currently twelve active members.The Coats Singers have performed for such dignitaries as the Honorable Willie Brown, Mayor of San Francisco, and Danny Glover, performer extraordinaire.
Other performances include weddings, anniversaries, gospel festivals, the Sacramento Black Expo Fair, Department of Motor Vehicles and Walden House, a nationwide recovery program.
Most recently, August of 2001, the Coats Singers performed in Japan for a delegation of the Sacramento/Japan Junior Chamber of Commerce. In October of 2001, the Coats Singers took part in the Michael Jackson video "CRY."
The Coats Singers have recorded their second production entitled "Our Father's Dream." and are currently working on their next recording. The Coats Singers are available for performances in areas throughout California and the Western States.
