About Joie
Joie Rasberry, extraordinary orator and motivational speaker, leaves an indelible mark on our times. Her journey from the inner city of Houston Gardens in Houston, Texas, to becoming a public figure on the international stage is a remarkable one.
Rasberry attended Houston’s High School for the Performing and Visual Arts where she majored in theatre. She went on to study at Southwestern Christian College and Texas Southern University, majoring in Speech Communication and Broadcast Journalism. While in college, Rasberry refined her oratorical skills by becoming a member of the award-winning, internationally renowned Texas Southern University Debate Team. A stellar speaker and debater, Rasberry garnished first place wins against other universities in Paris, France (1999), Rome, Italy (2000), Johannesburg, South Africa (2001) and Prague, Czechoslovakia (2002).
Drawing on her innate gift of speech, Rasberry owns her own motivational speaking service called Professionally Speaking. Rasberry is contracted to serve as keynote speaker, speech writer and speech consultant for corporate, non-profit and community-based organizations. Aside from her own business, Rasberry is employed at Texas Southern University and is also an on-air personality for KTSU 90.9 FM radio station.
A few of the venues for which she has spoken include: Federal Bureau of Investigations, Child Protective Services, United States Department of Interior, The Black McDonalds Owners Association, Toastmasters, Mobay Synthetic, Exxon, Tulane Medical, Nabisco, Halliburton, NAACP and hundreds of others. Rasberry has also graced schools, churches and businesses around the world serving as guest speaker for various events. Rasberry worships at the Fifth Ward Church of Christ in Houston, Texas, under the ministry of Thomas Foster.
Rasberry has been featured in Ebony Magazine, The Washington Post, The Chicago Tribune and many other publications. She has also made several television appearances.
Rasberry’s leadership positions have included: Miss Texas Southern University, Vice President of the Association of Black Journalist, President of the Texas Southern University Debate Team, a member of the National Parliamentary Debate Association, National Thespian Society and Pi Kappa Delta Fraternity for Articulate Speakers.
Rasberry’s story from humble beginnings to becoming of the nation’s most sought after motivational speakers is amazing. She has been on the speaking circuit since the age of five and to this day, she continues to captivate audiences in the White House, the State Capitol and around the world with her remarkable ability to appeal to all; regardless of age, gender or nationality.
With so many accomplishments, Rasberry remains grounded, humble and soft-spoken. She attributes her success to a deep abiding faith in God and a willingness not to be afraid to FAIL her way to SUCCESS.
