About "The Best Intentions

The Best Intentions is comprised of five gentlemen with over 40 years combined experience in the music and entertainment industry.

Throughout their careers they have performed with such greats as The Natural Four, The Tepmtations, James Brown, Zakiah Hooker, Rod Stewart, and many more. Their careers have taken them to venues such as the Villa Montalvo, Kimballs East, Konochti resort, Biscuits and Blues, Soledad's Fiesta Days, Monterey Blues, Oakland's Art & Soul, and various other events and festivals.

The Best Intentions Tribute Show, accompanied by the Reed Fromer & Friends band features their rendition of such greats as Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, The Four Tops, Glady's Knight & The Pips, Marvin Gaye, and The legendary Temptations.

It's a powerful show that will have the audience on their feet and dancing to those fabulous oldies.

Jeffrey Bashir, 2nd tenor, baritone, lead vocalist

Jeffrey started his professional music career in 1968 as a drummer in the Oakland, S.F. Bay Area, recording the "Oh Happy Day" album with the Edwain Hawkins Singers.

In the 70's and 80's Jeffrey performed throughout the U.S. with a spiritual group called "Hijrah". He continued his career performing with Zakiya Hooker, daughter of Blues legend, John Lee Hooker.

In 1997 he joined the Natural Four, and remained with them until he met and collaborated with the other four gentlemen and thus The Best Intentions were born.

Rodney James, bass, baritone, lead vocalist, choreographer

Rodney, a multi-talented S.F. native began performing in the mid-sixties as local talent in a variety of popular vocal groups. In the mid-seventies Rodney became a member of "Talk of Da Town", an accapella group that over the years has become world renowned, and to this day continues to travels to Europe every year for Italy's Christmas Gospel Tour.

In addition, Rodney has sharpened his theatrical skills as a stage actor, accomplished playwrite, and producer-performing in numerous bay area projects. In 1999, he joined the Natural Four, and met Jeffrey Bashir, and soon after became a founding member of The Best Intentions.

Bilal M. 2nd tenor, baritone, lead vocalist

Bilan M. a native of Santa Barbara is a multi-talented artist, with a wide range of knowledge and experience that embraces musicianship, stage & screen performance, and the musical theatre.

Working with M.C. Hammer as a vocalist and guitarist he has shared the stage with artist such as; Boys II Men, KC & JoJo, TLC and more. Bilal is also focusing his sights on the commercial radio industry.

Bilal M. one of the three founding members of The Best Intentions, is truly a musical genius with noted accomplishments in motion picture and movie sountracks.

Charles Barksdale, 1st tenor, 2nd tenor, lead vocalist

Charles grew up in Vallejo, CA at a time when the bay area was turning out some of the biggest musical legends in the history of R&B and funk. Some of his musical influences are The Family Stone, The Whispers, Confunkshun and many others.

Charles began singing in his high school chorus, and moved on to sing in local band, and his church choir. Charles has had the opportunity to collaborate with Danny Thomas of Confunkshun and other producers on a solo album.

His musical highlights include: 1989-1993 Gospel Tones, 1999-2003 Infinity, finalist on Dick Clarks "Your Big Break", 2004 "Talk of Da Town". Charles, the newest member of The Best Intentions, is truly a musical gift to the group.

Ray Ragler, bass, baritone

Ray's a San Francisco native, entertainment career started years ago in the Bay Area. In the early 70's after his involvement with a couple of local groups, Ray became the co-founder of an accapella group called "Talk of Da Town".

For well over 20years they have performed with such greats as The Temptations, Patti LaBelle, James Brown, Ray Charles, and the Legendary Rod Stewart in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Ray joined The Best Intentions in 2005.
